I am expecting a new litter (due approximately August 8th) out of Molly bred to Trouble. Molly (Duckweed's Molly at Eureka) and Trouble (CH Eureka's Here Comes Trouble) are both black carrying yellow. This means that the litter should have both black and yellow puppies. Molly is an energetic dog that loves to retrieve but tries to beat me to the best seat on the couch when it is time to relax. She is the best of both worlds, particularly if you are looking for a hunting and family dog. Her mouth is incredibly soft. That means (for those that do not hunt) that she can carry things in her mouth without harm to it. As a matter of fact, carrying things is Molly's favorite pastime. She absolutely must have something in her mouth at all times. I have even seen her fall asleep with a toy in her mouth, much as a child uses a pacifier. She is the epitome of a retriever. Molly has a fabulous pedigree with distinguished grandsires on both sides. Her paternal grandsire is Mexican CH Milton of Little by Little. He was a French import with an impressive background of English kennels, including Sandylands and Rocheby. Molly's maternal grandsire was CH Dickendall's Arnold. He was the top producer of champions in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Arnold has a strong influence on all his offspring, and those familiar with the labrador community can identify his presence in a dog pedigree by the family resemblence.
Trouble is a recent AKC champion at what looks to be the beginning of a fabulous specials career. Being a "special" means that although he won his championship, he is still going out to compete and win points in hopes of becoming a top 20 and, with hard work, one of the top 10 labradors in the nation! On his way to winning his championship, Trouble earned several Best of Breeds, including a 5-point Major at the October 2004 Supported Entry in Atlanta and a Best in Sweepstakes/Futurity at the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX in March of 2004. You can see more about Trouble on the webpage of our dear friends Eureka Labradors .
The starting price for puppies from Molly and Trouble will be $800.
With regard to the new puppies, our kennel does have some base guidelines.
Puppies cannot leave our kennel before eight (8) weeks of age. We socialize our puppies using the latest research and studies, in addition to good old-fashioned daily handling with love and attention. Until the puppies are old enough to go outside to start potty training, I train them to use a litter box (using pine shavings) to help potty training go easier in their new forever homes. To date, this has worked wonders and I have had reports back of puppies training in as few as a couple hours to less than two days (with the exclusion of one or two accidents along the way).
Our puppies are vetted appropriately for their age and are fed a holistic diet. Our puppies will also be taken to veterinarians specializing in cardiology and opthalmology. The purpose of these specialization visits is to rule out any hereditary diseases commonly found in the labrador breed. I strive to make sure that the puppies we place are the healthiest puppies possible.
Our pups go home with a complete puppy pack that includes the following: food upon which they have been weaned (to avoid upset tummies in their new homes), a selection of puppy-approved toys, a new puppy collar, heartworm treatment and a coupon for our recommended flea control (if you should need future flea treatment). This puppy pack will also have a binder containing your new puppy's registration papers, a copy of the papers for the puppy's parents, certificates, coupons for products we recommend and pictures of your new family member.
At Event Horizon Farm, we are very particular about certain details of our puppy's new home. Our pups will only go to homes where they will be inside dogs. This is important for the social life of your puppy, as all dogs are pack animals and can only be happy and well adjusted if they are part of your pack - thus the rule of inside the home living. We will need you to provide three references that include a veterinarian reference (however, if this is your first dog, we ask that you provide the name of the vet you will be using) and two personal references. We do not require that you have a fenced yard (but of course, it is a preferable living situation for any dog). We also do not require that you own your home, however, if you do live in a rental situation, we will need to verify with your landlord that you are allowed to keep a labrador in the rental unit.
Event Horizon Farm employs the use of sales contract which detail the specifics of each puppy purchase, whether for pet or a show prospect. Pet puppies are sold on what is known as a limited registration and pet puppies are required to be spayed or neutered as part of the sales contract. Puppies sold as show prospect puppies are sold on a co-ownership basis only unless prior arrangements have been made. The Event Horizon Farm sales contract also contains our celebrated health guarantee.
Sake Yellow female, DOB 5/12/05.
Sake was the pick of her litter; she is just over 1 y/o and is very sweet. She has been shown and placed in her classes. She recently returned home from her trainer in order to allow her time to mature. Sake is being placed in a new forever home as part of our ongoing breeding stock evaluation process. She has been crate trained, housebroken and trained by a professional handler. Sake is out of my bitch Anna (our English import). Anna was a crossbreeding from the Sandylands kennel and was bred to Ch Seawind's Eureka Chief. Her price is $1000.
Mabel Yellow female. 8y/o
Exceptionally sweet and gentle. If you are looking for a couch companion, then this is the dog for you. She is not formally trained but will come when called, sit, potty on command, and crate trained. Although Mabel does try to climb on you for attention, she is so gentle you literally will not even notice until she is suddenly there. She is a very calm lab and is one dog that I would have no qualms about placing with an older couple. I love this girl and it is very difficult to place her in a new home, but again, responsible kennels employ an ongoing breeding stock evaluation process and part of that process is to eliminate the stock that is not helping your breeding lines. Mabel is not a part of our breeding lines. I do not feel like asking for money for this girl, but I will require that her new owner have her spayed immediately. You can either take her to your vet or mine. She is in perfect health and was rated excellent on her hips when she was scored by the OFA. Her dream is to sit with or lay by you while you pet her. She will do ANYTHING for that. She is truly a dream dog and will make somebody a very very lucky family. Mabel is a treasure.
