Event Horizon Farm’s family has a new member! Webster is a 2001 Clydesdale/TB cross and has competed successfully at 3’9” jumpers on the local circuit. As you might imagine, his show name is “Bud Light.”
He is about 16 hands high and is bright bay with two white socks. And, as befits his breeding, nice big feet that usually don’t wear shoes.
He is very polite and well behaved, well, except when it’s feeding time, when he grabs his halter off the hook and throws it in the aisle. Brady competes with him to see who can throw their halter farther in this game. Marla and Webster will be working with our trainer Whitney on Webster’s flatwork from a little more of a dressage perspective. He seems to be catching on quickly, although he is getting ridden 6 days a week rather than 3 that he was used to so he gets tired out fairly quickly right now. His jumping will need very little work; Marla will have to work on doing less kicking and pulling as it’s not necessary- Webster knows exactly what to do and likes to be left alone to do it. May 2010 - He will go to a schooling show later this month and then some local and regional shows this summer, with the goal of competing in the Thunderbird Jumper Derbies in early September. These classes are held in the Grand Prix ring at Thunderbird and are a chance for those of us who don’t jump 4’ and above to play where the big boys and girls play.
